Dr Malcolm McKellar

Cataract and refractive surgeon. Eye specialist, diseases of the anterior and external eye

Dr Malcolm McKellar is an eye specialist. He is the only person in New Zealand trained as both an ophthalmologist* and optometrist.* Malcolm has a wealth of experience in helping patients who have conditions that affect the ocular surface and anterior segment of the eye.

Malcolm is a New Zealander with strong rural roots and connections. He initially trained as an optometrist and then as a medical doctor, finally specialising in ophthalmology. After further sub-speciality training in Israel and England he returned to Christchurch in 2001. Malcolm’s work focuses on vision restoration and correction through cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, laser eye surgery and corneal transplantation.
