If you’re ever enjoying a river walk on the West Coast of the South Island and spot a tall figure casting a rod on the water, it could well be Dr McKellar.
When not seeing patients he likes nothing better than getting away from it all with a spot of fly fishing. As well as allowing him to indulge his passion, it gives him a chance to enjoy the outdoors, relax and recharge his batteries.
Fly fishing is such a sufficiently popular pastime with eye doctors that Malcolm has even co-founded the Eyes and Flies fishing group.
If you’re seeing Dr McKellar at his Hokitika clinic, it’s quite possible that he’ll have some fly fishing planned there too.
